Help, my kids don't want to go to soccer!!!

We have all been there. Its time to get the kids ready for soccer, gymnastics or Karate class and they don't want to go. This surely is frustrating but I have a quick tip that should make them happy to get out the door and off to class.

You see kids are human (hard to believe sometimes I know. lol), and as humans they of course don't want to stop doing something fun, even if it is to do something else that's also fun.

So here is what I suggest. Before it is time to head out to class or some other activity, have them doing something they don't like. Have them cleaning their room for example. Then while they are doing the boring task ask them to get ready for class. I bet there won't be any arguments!!!

I hope this helps. If you have any other suggestions or tips on getting your kids out the door feel free to post them in the comments below.

5 Ways to Get Motivated, Even if You’re in a Slump

Hey, feeling unmotivated lately? I know that I sure am. The hot, humid weather has helped me give in to the dog days of summer, where I just want to lay about and do absolutely nothing!!! The bad part is that this slump makes it difficult to accomplish anything, let alone be productive.

So how do you get yourself out of a slump once you have slowed down to a snails pace and getting going again seems to be too monumental of a task?

Fear not I have five very simple and easy ways to get back on the motivation train. With some small steps, we will get started back down the road to positive change and get out of the slump.

Some of the ways that I use to pull myself out of a slump are:

1. Realize it’s not permanent. The first thing you have to do is acknowledge that motivation is not permanent. You can’t be motivated all the time. It is like the waves on the beach, it comes and goes. There will be times when motivation comes in so hard and fast that it washes over you and carries you away, allowing you to surf. Then there are times when it hardly moves you, it is just a ripple in the water, and you sit on your surfboard going nowhere. But like a surfer you know that if you wait long enough you will catch that next wave.

2. One thing at a time. Most of the time I realize that my slumps are created by my own doing. I notice that I’m trying to do too much at once and it has overwhelmed me, things have been left undone and now all require attention at the same time. This situation can be very draining, as you try to cope with that scattered feeling in your head; it can be difficult to know where to start! Ahhhh! I feel overwhelmed and unmotivated just writing that. When this happens it is now time to STOP, STEP BACK, and SET a small GOAL. That’s right the answer is goal setting. When you have a million tasks, the best way to start moving forward is to pick one. Concentrate on that task only. Complete that task to the best of your ability. Then move on to another task. I would suggest that you start with small tasks first. The smaller the better. Choose a task that you can get done relatively quickly and easily. This will build momentum, and once you get moving it is easier to stay motivated.

3. Pick a role model. Look up people online and read articles about what you are trying to accomplish. Sometimes just knowing how someone else did it can inspire you to take action as well. Reading articles can make something more real for you and give you real life references for a completed work. You can also use visualization. Imagine that you have already achieved your goal and how it feels to have it done. This builds excitement and anticipation of the completed task. Kind of like dangling a carrot in front of a horse.

4. Post your goal. You can write out or print your goal on index cards and post them up around your house as a reminder of your goal. Make sure your goal is just a few words long. Something like “Think Positively” will work to remind you. To add more power to your reminder you can find a picture that captures the essence of what you want and put it on the index card too. If you have the words “Stick to the diet” and pictures of a model with the body you want next to it, that can keep you focused and keep your excitement going. Another technique that works is to tell someone else your goal, like a friend or spouse, or if you are really brave post it on Facebook and Twitter!!!

5. Lastly, focus on the good. Don’t concentrate on what you have left to do. Instead congratulate and reward yourself for the tasks that are already done. This will keep you in a positive frame of mind which will make it easier to sustain the motivation to continue. You can keep a progress journal that you write in every night, but here is the trick; only write positive things in it, like what you have accomplished and how great it made you feel. Then when the motivation begins to wane, you can simply review your journal for inspiration and more importantly, proof that you can get things done.

So there you have it, five easy ways to get motivated again. Try them out. They really do work. Until next time. Visit our website by clicking here.

Decisions

Life sucks. This refrain and a myriad of other similar ones come out of peoples mouths each and
every day. Such statements underlie the very problems in our lives without our really knowing it. So, what are we really trying to say?

We are saying that we feel like we have no control over our lives. So we choose to blame someone or something else for the lack that we are currently experiencing. As silly as this is, we tend to push aside and ignore the one truth that is evident in all of our lives whether we want to accept it or not. Everything we have or don’t have is a direct result of the decisions we made in the past.

God gave us all the special ability to choose the way we want our lives to be. This ability separates us from the animals. If we do not like something in our lives we can choose to change it – for the better or the worse.

The problem however is that most of us never use our ability to choose. We wander through our lives, like animals, going from one desire to another with no clear direction, living on instinct, living only for survival.

You have to come to grips with the fact that if your life sucks, it is because in the past, you made decisions that suck, and now you have to pay for those decisions. As depressing as that is, it also holds with it a shimmering glimmer of hope as well.

YOUR FUTURE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE TODAY!!!!

You can decide to change your clothes, your job, and your friends. You can choose to change any of the circumstances of your life that you think suck.

Unfortunately, for most people their ability to make decisions has degenerated to the point that they even have trouble making the simplest of choices. For most it is difficult enough to decide what to have for dinner, let alone deciding how to change their lives in a deep and profound way.

It is now time to start making new decisions, ones that will put you on a path to a new life. Do you want that perfect relationship, the better job or even that sexy beach body? Then the time is NOW to make that choice. To exercise your powers of decision making and march boldly into a new and better life.

You need to make your decisions count. Decisions need to be made with conviction. A decision without conviction is not a decision at all; it is just a wish or desire. Wishes and desires have no potency. They do not have enough energy behind them to carry you to the next level, which is action.

In order to get to action you need to have a decision that will push you forward.

A true decision is like your stubborn grandfather. No matter what you say or do to try and convince him – he will not budge. You have to be just as bull headed in your conviction that what you have decided is the one and only way.

You cannot entertain the possibility that you could be wrong! To do so will only serve to dilute your decision and weaken it to the point were no action ever gets taken.

So I challenge you now to start to practice making decisions, because practice is the mother of skill, and all successful people are skilled in making decisions. Starting right now; make three decisions.

Make the first two easy to complete. This will help you get the practice needed to help you carry out the third decision which should be a little more difficult to carry out.

After making these three decisions try making more decisions. Make harder decisions. Make decisions that count for something. Practice, practice, practice, because once you get into the habit of making committed decisions your life will begin to change. You will have started to take control of your future, and your destiny. So I ask you. What are you going to have for dinner?

Insperational Video I Found On YouTube

I found this video on You Tube. I think it illustrates perfectly that it is our perceptions that hold us back from achieving greatness.

The Problem With Goal Setting

I am sure that it was not too long ago when the world was your oyster. Everything seemed to be within reach and the sky was the limit. You were going to conquer the world and you knew what you were going to achieve in life.
Then one gray day you looked up and saw that you were married, that you had kids, and that you were stuck at a job you really did not like. So what happened? Nothing happened, and that’s the problem. And that same nothing has and is happening to billions of people all around the world.
Dreams are not reality- but they could be!

We all have dreams and most of us are really good at dreaming. If you don’t believe me, just ask someone what they would do if they won the lottery this week. It may be fun to dream for a while, however dreaming is not going to get you anywhere in life. Most of us end up drifting from one new circumstance to another like getting married, or having children. Don’t get me wrong getting married and having kids is great (I know I enjoy it!), but it is just an example of the many events that dictate most of our lives which always seems to lead people into having to get jobs they don’t like to help pay for them and the things they may need and want.
What am I getting at? Essentially most people think that they did not achieve their dreams because in some way the events and circumstances of their lives got in the way and prevented them from achieving greatness. Well, they would be wrong! The true culprit is that they failed to set and achieve proper goals. And the greater problem is that most of us were never taught how to do so in the first place.
Turn Your Dreams Into Goals

Well then how do we set and achieve goals? Most of the literature on the subject of goal setting would have you believe that it is a simple process, and for the most part they are right.
It is simple enough to set a goal:
  1. You essentially pick something that you want to achieve.
  2. Set the date you want to achieve it by.
  3. Break it down into smaller more manageable (bit size) tasks to complete.
  4. Set completion dates for each of these tasks.
  5. And remember to celebrate milestones along way and track your progress.
  6. Oh and the most important part is to take action.
It is the taking action part, however, that is hard for most people. The problem is that most of us will not find the motivation needed to help us take action and keep on taking action to see a goal through to the end. You need to find a reason that will keep you going. Something that will spur you on and keep you motivated through the process of achieving your goals. If you cannot find that you will never achieve any of the goals that you set out to achieve.
In future articles I will outline how to set yourself up with a motivation system that will be powerful enough to help you achieve anything you want in your life. http://www.blackbeltschools.us
